Thunderbird soccer lost in their final home game of the season on Sunday, falling 3-0 to the North Dakota Fighting Hawks.
After a scoreless first half hour, UND (5-7-3, 3-4 BSC) scored two quick goals in the 33rd and 34th minutes, putting SUU in a 2-0 hole.
The Thunderbirds (4-12, 3-5 BSC) had their chances to get back into the game, but had multiple attempts at goal denied. The Fighting Hawks put an exclamation point on the game, scoring in the 80th minute, taking a 3-0 lead that would extend to the final whistle.
Ally Thimsen had three shots on goal for SUU, remaining tied for the school’s all-time lead in goals with 19. The Thunderbirds have two road games remaining for Thimsen to attempt to become the all-time leader outright.
SUU will travel to Flagstaff to take on Northern Arizona in their next game on Friday, October 20. The game is set to kick off at 7 p.m. Fans can view the match on Pluto TV, Channel 239.
The Thunderbirds still have a chance to qualify for the Big Sky Tournament, and a win at NAU would greatly increase their chances.
