The SUU men’s basketball team won a close contest against Long Beach State on Wednesday, improving to 4-0 at home with the 94-89 victory
The T-Birds came out of the gates hot, storming out to a five-point lead. Long Beach kept the game close, but SUU took a 42-33 lead into the break, having led for the entire half.
The 49ers came out strong in the second half, taking a 57-55 lead. The T-Birds found themselves trailing by seven with 7:30 to go. With 1:16 left and trailing by two, SUU’s Brandon Better made a layup, followed by an and-one layup on the next play to give the T-Birds the lead, which they held until the final whistle, winning 94-89.
Better led SUU with 26 points, a new career-high. Jadon Cohee added 25 points and five assists in the win. Christian Musoko registered a double-double for the T-Birds, scoring 14 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
Up next, SUU travels to East Lansing to take on the No. 3 team in the country Michigan State Spartans and Preseason All-American Miles Bridges.
The game will be played on Saturday, tipping off at 4 p.m. MT. The game can be viewed on the Big Ten Network and heard on the radio on KSUB 590 AM.
