The A.P.E.X. Event Series will host Kevin Fedarko on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. in the Great Hall of the Hunter Conference Center. He will present his lecture, titled “Between the River and the Rim: An Extended Journey Through the Grand Canyon.”
“Few people can say they have written for major publications, have diverse background in history and political science and get to be a guide in the Grand Canyon,” A.P.E.X. Event Series director Lynn Vartan said in a press release. “Kevin Fedarko is an explorer of great interests and has a wealth of knowledge and stories that he will be sharing with the SUU community. Come, enjoy and leave feeling inspired to explore more of the world!”
Fedarko, a writer and adventure guide, will give stories that he has heard and experienced in the Grand Canyon. He will discuss his 2013 book, “The Emerald Mile,” which won the 2013 National Outdoor Book Award and was on the 2014 New York Times Bestseller list. Copies will be on sale after the lecture.
In addition to his book, he has written for National Geographic, Esquire, New York Times and Times Magazine. He has also visited some of the world’s most revered sites, such as the Himalayas, the Colorado River and the Horn of Africa.
Anyone at SUU or the Cedar City community can attend this free event.
