What is religious freedom?
“Religious freedom is being able to practice whatever religion you like, be able to exercise and participate in that religion, and not be persecuted for it. It also could mean the freedom to not choose a religion if you do not believe in a higher power and still be respected.”
Should there be separation of church and state? Explain.
“I think there should be a separation of church in state, but it is not going to be completely possible to do so because of the deep religious beliefs our country has and the vast majority of Christianity in the United States. I think that passing laws that favors one religion is not good because it takes away the religious freedom of someone or some other group away by doing that.”
Does freedom of religion require respect for other religions?
“Freedom of religion definitely requires respect for other religions. Just because you have the right to practice your religion, it is not appropriate to disrespect other religions. Disrespecting other religions to the point of them feeling harmed is infringing on their right to practice religion peacefully, or even making them not practice a certain aspect of their religion due to society's beliefs is not acceptable. It is going to be interesting to see what happens with the cake baker from Colorado that will not make a cake for the gay couple.”
